The Life of Fango follows the story of Fango, a skullwolf who came back from the dead to accomplish his vengeance.
This universe is one of my oldest, Fango being one of the oldest character I've created. In fact, the first ever character I've created, Lucy, lives in this universe !
WORLD INFOS
While humans do exist, the main focus of this universe is stray dogs. Other animals appear too, but the main ones are canids.
Magic also exists, in some way. The afterlifeand ghosts exist. It is not possible for animals to use magic, but some other beings can, in some extend.
There are three main types of beings : animals, ghosts and demons.
Animals are, well, animals. They can talk, but are not understood by humans. I really wish to stress how unimportant humans are in this story.
Ghosts are animals who had an "unfinished usines" when they died. They can be vengeful spirits, or be a tad more peaceful. this occurs, the animal's soul gets stuck in limbo, instead of joining the underworld. When it finally breaks
free of this place, they get reincarned as ghosts. Their goal is to accomplish a "vengeance", which basically means finishing their unfinished business. Ghosts cannot be exposed to sunlight, otherwise they get hurt.
There are several types of ghotst : the Skulls, the Wandering Souls and the [???], as well as hybrids.
Skull ghosts are formed when an animal is brutally murdered unjustly. Their vengance is to take kill their killer(s).
Examples : Fango, Jawie.
Wandering ghosts are formed when an animal dies but still has something to hold on to. Their vengance is to find that thing. Examples : Angel, Ghost, Jawie.
[???] ghosts are ghosts who had a goal but died before reaching said goal. Examples : Red Maw, Dullahan.
Hybrid ghosts are ghosts that correspond to several ghost types at once. Examples : Jawie is both a skullcat and a wantering soul.
Demons are the only beings capable of using magic. They are governed by the Devil. They reside in the underworld, where all almost all souls go. Their role is to make sure no soul who commited grave crimes gets into the underworld. When
they encounter such a soul,
they destroy it. For example, Cézar would not be able to get into the underworld, and will have his soul destroyed.
Another role of demons is to make sure no stay soul gets stuck on in living realm. In order to do so, they randomly pick a soul in the underworld to help them gather those lost souls, using a train as a method of transport.
CHARACTERS
ACT 1
Fango
Fango is an adult male skullwolf. Before his death, his name was Néro. His brother Cézar murdered him
out of jealousy by pushing him under a car. This event caused his soul to get stuck in Limbo, and he got
reincarned a few years after. Now renamed Fango, he began looking for Cézar in odrer to accomplish his
vengeance.
However, he discovered a young pup named Zéro. Zéro was Cézar's son, and Fango couldn't bring himself
to leave this poor pup, his nephew, alone. He then tried to bring him back to his mother, only to find that
Cézar had murdered her. Fango decided to abandon his vengeance to take care of Zéro, and they grew
very close.
But, with time, Fango ended up killing Cézar to be sure that Zéro would be completly safe, and he vanished
into the underworld. Until one day, he was back, without any memories. His soul was picked to be the next
lost soul guide, guided by Lucy, a demon. For a few months they travelled and befriended other ghosts who
were now travelling with them. During one of his travels, he met Zéro again, but he did not recognize him.
Fango asked Lucy to give him his memories back. She accepted, but at the cost that he would have to be
the guide forever. Fango accepted, and with all of his memories back, he kept on travelling woth his new
friends and his nephew.
Zéro
Zéro is Cézar's and Skye's son and Fango's nephew. He and his mother have been suffering Cézar's anger
and paranoia, trying to escape him multiple times, but never succeeding. One night he got separated from
Skye and encountered Fango, who, after discovering that they were related, decided to take care of him
until he was safe. However, when they discovered that Skye has been murdered, Fango promised to stay
with him. But Cézar's menace became grew in size and Fango eventually decided to kill him, leaving Zéro
alone with Arachnéa and Ather.
That is, until he and Ather encountered Fango again. But when he discovered that Fango has lost his memories,
he thought that they could never go back to living together. Thankfully, Fango was able to recover his memories
and Zéro, relieved, gladly went back to living and travelling with his uncles and the new ghosts he befriended
along the way.
Cézar
Cézar is Fango's younger brother and Zéro's father. Cézar never liked his brother, he never knew why, but
he didn't. In fact, he did not like many animals in his life, but he was good at hiding this and was considered
pretty charismatic by the other dogs he knew. The only other dog he's ever loved was Arachnéa, who was
Néro's wife. Obsessed with her, he decided that killing Néro was the only was to redirect Arachnéa's attention,
and affection, to him. Therefore, he pushed his brother under a car one night. He then went to Arachnéa,
hoping that she would welcome him with open arms, but she was heartbroken and would not let Cézar
approach her. This made Cézar even more furious.
He ended up having a child with Skye, a dog who's always been in love with him. But even though he did
not realize it, the guilt of killing his brother caught up to Cézar, making him more and more paranoiac and
violent. He thought that everyone was trying to kill him. In consequence, he hired three mercenaries to protect
him at all times. He also grew suspicious of his mate and his son, thinking that they tried to escape him in
order to plot against him. So the secondary job of the mercenaries was to make sure that Skye and Zéro never
got too far away.
One day, as Skye and Zéro got away without him or the mercenaries noticing, he decided to hunt them down
himself and kill them, to make sure they could do no harm to him. He found and murdered Skye and went looking
for Zéro. Some time after, the mercenaried found out about him murdering Skye and decided to help Fango locate
and kill Cézar. When Fango killed Cézar, his soul was not accepted in the underworld and was destroyed.
Arachnéa
Arachnéa was Fango's wife before he died. She was very much in love with Néro, and his death broke her
heart. When Cézar approached her after Néro's death, she categorically rejected him, without even knowing
that he had killed her loved one. She moved to live inside of Green Park after this event. She was pregnant
when Néro died, but had not had the time to tell him before his death. She named their daughter Ather and
raised her alone. With time, the pain, while still there, dulled and Arachnéa mourned Néro's death.
One day, a ghost approached her, telling her that he was Néro's host, now called Fango. At first, Arachnéa
could not believe this, but she quickly understood that he was telling the truth. They had a long discussion,
about what happened before and after Fango's death. Fango told her that it was Cézar who killed him, and
Arachnéa told him that they had a daughter. They were both moved by these discoveries. Arachnéa then told
Fango that she had mourned him. Fango told her that he understood and that he was not asking to go back to
their old relationship. He asked if he and Zéro could stay in Green park to stay safe, and Arachnéa accepted.
Fango and Arachnéa became good friends and Ather and Zéro went along exceptionally well.
After Fango decided to accopmlish his vangeance, she kept on taking care of Zéro. That is, until Zéro and
Ather met Fango again and decided to travel with him. Arachnéa prefered to stay in Green Park, but she
was happy to know that the two pups would be travelling with Fango.
Ather
Ather is Arachnéa and fango's daughter. Since her father died before her birth, she did not care much about
him, until Fango came back. At first, she was wary, and Fango did not blame her for that. AFter all, he was
a scary-looking ghost. But with time, they got to know each other and grew closer. Perhaps she wasn't as
close to him as he was with Zéro, but they enjoyed eachother's company. Ather wasn't one to show her
emotions, appearing a bit rude sometimes. But deep down, she actually cares a lot about the ones who
surround her.
When Fango vanished after accomplishing his vengeance, she was sad that Fango wasn't around anymore.
As she and Zéro grew up, they started exploring around the city, and that is how they met Fango several
months after. When Fango finally got his memories back, she was so happy to be close to him again and
gladly accepted to travel with him and Zéro, as well as the other ghosts.
The Mercenaries
The mercenaries consist of Banshee, the leader of the group, Reaper, and Hunter, the new recruit.
While they might appear as heartless killers at first, who would do whatever is asked of them as long
as they get paid, these three do know know about Cézar's murderous tendencies, and when they learned
that he has killed Skye, they decide to help Fango kill Cézar. Cézar worder his instructions in a way that
made them believe he genuinely cared about his and his family's safety.
Hunter used to be Néro's best friend. He was a shy dog, so when Fango found out that he became a
mercenary, he was shocked. Hunter, being a new recruit, was not treated very kindly by Banshee and
Reaper. Those two met each other during a mission where they were assigned together. They became
close friends, but both faced hardships that made them naturally less kind than most dogs. But deep
down, they care about him and try to protect him from potential harm.
After Cézar died, the three cntinued working together as mercenaries.
